Saddle Creek Golf Resort Debuts New, Expanded Wine Cellar in Copper Grille

Saddle Creek Resort – the gated, 900-acre Castle & Cooke community located in the scenic foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains – today announces the opening of its new, expanded wine cellar in its award-winning, chef-driven restaurant, The Copper Grille.

Featuring more than 1,500 bottles from 250 wineries throughout Calaveras County, California’s famous wine-producing regions, and the world over, the expanded wine cellar further cements Saddle Creek’s burgeoning reputation as a haven for oenophiles. Members and guests dining at The Copper Grille will have access to the cellar’s expansive offerings, and are invited to visit and peruse the room. At just over 200 square-feet, the cellar is up-fit in a classic décor, including traditional oaken wine storage racks and hearthstone floors.

“We are excited to introduce another outstanding value-added amenity for our members and guests, one that showcases Saddle Creek’s dedication to providing a first-class culinary experience in keeping with the viniculture of the region,” says General Manager Bill Troyanoski.

To reflect the robust offerings of the new cellar, the Copper Grille wine menu now features some 30 bottles per page. To introduce entry-level wine lovers and experts alike to the characterics and profiles of numerous varietals, Saddle Creek hosts monthly “Wine Discovery Nights” in The Lodge foyer on the last Saturday of each month. Six bottles sharing a common theme are corked, and participants enjoy samples from each for $12 (tax and gratuity included).

About Saddle Creek

Designed by Carter Morrish and opened in 1996, the Saddle Creek Golf Club is framed by the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The 6,800-plus-yard layout challenges players of all levels with five sets of tees, 100 crystal white sand bunkers and a number of shimmering lakes. To create an atmosphere of tranquility and isolation, Morrish devised a routing in which no two holes run parallel to each other. Saddle Creek’s thoughtful design, challenging-yet-fair setup and sublime conditioning have led to numerous state-wide and national accolades including:

Golf Digest, “4 1/2 Stars”
Golf Digest, “Best New Upscale”
